Westside Garden Plaza is a very established care center, but they didn’t have rehab until last year, and it’s an add-on. The staff seemed very industrious and seemed to care a lot about their patients, and they spend a lot of time in their rooms. The semi-private rooms are nice and spacious. The food is delicious, they do it really well, and they cater to just about any menu. They make sure my wife can eat what they’re serving, and they’ve evidently hired someone who can cook.
They are not very secure, and they have had people coming in and out, without proper security protocols. They were very welcoming from the start. My mom has fit in very easily and is doing better than I could have imagined. Much of it a result of the community that has been created there.

Residents are regularly unsupervised and under supervised. When they had a flu quarantine, it was hard to find a staff. The church service with pastor and music is the nicest feature each week. Recreational activities are a few hours on weekdays and often just turning on a TV and then the staff leaves.

It’s in a neighborhood that I couldn’t feel comfortable going out in, but it is a changing area. I just didn’t get as warm a feeling from the relationship between the staff and the residents as in other places. Everyone loves freedom and choices...and we kept that in mind while designing our Senior Apartments.
